I have an Idea - Part Four

Woo-Hoo! I found out today that my idea has been funded by the Futuring and Innovations Center. The best part is that it has been funded to the full amount. With this seed money I can start to make my idea a reality. The next step is to assemble a team of like minded individuals to help me flesh out my ideas and beta test my product. So what is the idea? Well more to come on that but in the meantime here’s a clue. Go check out this link and this one. And now combine them in your head. Leave me a comment if you think you know what it is.

Thanks again to the folks at the Futuring and Innovations Center.

First: congratulations on your funding. Second: okay, I’ll take a guess: a you-tube-like mashup - perhaps a place for Cancer Survivors to post videos of their journey?

Well, if it were me, I’d travel the country collecting the stories of cancer survivors, etc. In this case it would be video stories. My idea was to create a book like the one “This I believe” http://digitaljournalist.org/issue0612/believe.html based on the radio series. A photograph or series of photographs of the person or persons telling the story would be included.

Either way, stories have a profound way of moving people and changing minds about issues. I thought the book would be a great political tool. Video stories shared on DVD’s might work better.

Sigh… I just took a better look at the share hope site. It looks like the ACS is already doing what I was suggesting (video wise).

You know… the Share Hope project was completely off my radar screen. I find this a bit disturbing.
