I have an idea - Part Three
Okay so this week I pulled the trigger. My springboard idea has been passed around, edited, laughed at, lifted up, spellchecked, and even had some technical savants outside the Society throw their two cents in. Once all this was done I finished up the Word Document and saved it. Then I went here and sent in my 1000 word summary. Once this was done I sent the Word Document to all the people on the FICenter mailing list. Then being paranoid I picked up the phone and called Randal Moss and Jennifer Assuma who assured me they got it.
Hmmm that’s it? I seem to remember it being harder the last time I did this? Maybe not. Well that’s it. My baby’s out of the cradle and time to follow it to the grave. Well maybe that’s a little dark. Hopefully it gets a positive vote and get’s funded!
So you may be wondering just who are these people that vote on these "Innovative" projects? And when do they vote? I was wondering that too! Is it done with candles lit in a dark room with hooded robes? Is it the American Cancer Society’s own version of Skull and Bones? So I poked Jennifer Assuma with a stick and she gave me the scoop. It’s mostly senior level Society staff and the next round of funding voting occurs on a conference call on May 22nd or 24th. I made Randy promise to light a black candle for me just in case.
So who does the voting? That I actually don’t know. I know a couple of the members are Glenn Ross, Tom Willner, Randal Moss, Mike Mitchell and Danny Ingram. Is that a secret? I don’t think so…. I’m just too lazy today to look it up in Lotus Notes
Once again if you have an idea that you think could really change the way the Society does something please submit it today! And I will let you know the fate of my project after May 25th!

It is fascinating to read the “life of an idea” throughout your three blog posts.
In most cases I tell my clients that their organizations are “idea poor” when they need to be “idea rich”.
The basic lesson is, “fish with a net”.
It looks like that is what happens at the Society.
But from what you wrote I wonder how people decide which fish to pull from the net and fry up.
I’ll light a candle for you too, if that will help!
Keep creating…important ideas,
Mike
